Does your teen love making art? In this six-week class, they’ll create a collection of tiny original paintings and learn how artists can turn their work into a small side hustle.
What is an ACEO?
An ACEO is a 2.5 × 3.5-inch original artwork—the size of a trading card. Artists make them to collect, trade, give as gifts, and sell. The small format gives teens a chance to try new ideas and finish multiple paintings as they develop their own style.
 
What will they learn?
Teens will spend time painting every week. Along the way, they’ll learn how to:
Create a themed collection of original ACEOs
Title, sign, protect, and package their artwork
Calculate costs and choose a selling price
Take clear photos and write an art listing
Build a small display for their work
They’ll complete a practice online listing in class. Students do not need an online account to participate. Families who want to explore selling online will receive an optional take-home guide; a parent or guardian would set up and supervise any selling account.
 
Six-week schedule
 
October 19 — Meet the ACEO: Learn the format and paint your first tiny artworks.
October 26 — Find Your Style: Try different subjects and colors, then choose a theme for your collection.
November 2 — Build Your Collection: Keep painting and learn how to title, sign, and protect your finished art.
November 9 — Price Your Art: Learn about supply costs, packaging, and pricing while adding to your collection.
November 16 — Get Ready to Sell: Photograph your artwork, write a practice listing, and prepare your display. Bring your cellphone to get decent photos!
November 23 — Mini Art Market: Finish and package your work, then show your collection to invited family and friends during the final part of class. Offering artwork for sale is optional.

All art supplies are included. Beginners are welcome, and parents do not need to attend class.
