Step into the world of Greek mythology as we paint six stunning female portraits inspired by some of history's most powerful and legendary goddesses. Throughout this six-week acrylic painting series, you'll create beautiful portraits of Athena, Aphrodite, Hecate, Artemis, and Medusa while learning the foundational techniques that make portrait painting approachable and rewarding.
Each portrait will be professionally pre-sketched for you, so you can skip the intimidating drawing process and dive straight into painting. Rather than worrying about proportions or sketching facial features, we'll spend our time learning the fundamentals of portrait painting—mixing realistic skin tones, understanding light and shadow, creating smooth blends, painting expressive eyes and lips, adding dimension to hair, and building texture in fabrics, armor, and other details. Our goal is to help you gain confidence with portrait painting while creating artwork you'll be proud to display.
Whether this is your very first portrait or you're looking to improve your acrylic painting skills, each class builds on the techniques learned the week before, making the series perfect for beginners and experienced painters alike.
 
Course Schedule
September 24 – Athena – Goddess of Wisdom
Learn the fundamentals of portrait painting while exploring realistic skin tones, facial planes, smooth blending, expressive eyes, and metallic gold effects.
October 1 – Aphrodite – Goddess of Love
Focus on luminous skin, soft facial features, flowing hair, and creating beautiful depth through layering and blending.
October 8 – Hecate – Goddess of Magic
Practice dramatic lighting, rich shadows, dark fabrics, contrast, and creating mood through your portrait.
October 15 – Artemis – Goddess of the Hunt
Learn natural skin tones, hair texture, leather and fabric techniques, jewelry details, and realistic highlights.
October 22 – Medusa – Part One
Build the foundation of your portrait while learning advanced blending, facial structure, texture, and the beginnings of Medusa's iconic snakes.
October 29 – Medusa – Part Two
Complete your masterpiece by adding realistic snakes, scales, fine details, highlights, and professional finishing touches.
