DARK HISTORY ON CANVAS: THE RADIUM GIRLS
This is not your typical paint night.
Turn down the lights, turn on the black lights, and join us for our first Dark History on Canvas Painting Experience — where we paint while diving into a fascinating true story from history.
For this night, we're going back to the 1920s to tell the story of The Radium Girls.
They were young women hired to paint the tiny numbers on watch and instrument dials using a new "miracle" substance that glowed in the dark: radium.
The work was considered glamorous. The glowing paint got everywhere. And the women were assured it was safe.
They were even taught to shape their paintbrushes with their lips.
Lip. Dip. Paint.
Again and again.
Until the women began getting sick.
What happened next became a story of corporate greed, devastating consequences, and a group of women who refused to stay quiet — ultimately helping change workplace protections for generations to come.
While I tell you their incredible true story, you'll be creating your own vibrant painting entirely under black lights using fluorescent paints.
No mystery to solve.
No characters to play.
No history lesson that feels like school.Just paint, listen, talk, and experience one of the darker—and most fascinating—stories in American history.
And yes... your painting will GLOW.
